As we are posting girl-wonder auction items for preview, I can bring to your attention this art by Renato Guedes. Even if you don't have the $70 to bid on it, take a look at it. Remember how Supergirl looked like a vaguely insectoid rendition of a Bratz doll for a while? Here's a girl you'd want to have pulling you out of a burning building. It makes me want to read the book. I just look at it and *siiiiiiiigh* with happiness.

Why I will always love fandom more than I am frustrated by it. Girl-Wonder update
Hey, people, remember this post? (If you don't remember, blah blah blah, redrawing sexualized women as men.) Answered beyond my wildest imaginings, and I think y'all should take a look at the image gallery, here. Guaranteed to make you say, "My eyes! The goggles, they do nothing!" at least once. Betty tries to get the internet to do her homework.
One of the interesting things produced by the Girl-Wonder.org forums is some artwork produced by people trying to illustrate the exactly how and why female comic characters are illustrated differently than the male. We're not just talking about the costumes, although it's a good start. We're talking about the poses, the blocking, the anatomy, the whole shebang. |
