He Can't Say No.

What I wrote in this entry: "Do not compare sexism to racism; it is unnecessary and offensive. (And generally betrays your ignorance.)"

What certain people appear to have heard: "Please, share with me your thoughts on why sexism is a more serious problem than racism."

POOR READING COMPREHENSION, PEOPLE.

Anyway, happy-making things:

This turtle! HIS LITTLE FACE. I've had that tab open for twelve hours now, and I keep going back to it. HIS LITTLE FACE.

This post on Making Light has given me the image of Jayne playing Ado Annie in Oklahoma.  I'm reluctant to read the thread and discover I am not the only special snowflake to whom this beautiful possibility has occurred.

ZOMG IT'S WRITTINS!

I mean:

Four people who were not even a little bit Bob Fraser (and one who was, a little bit.)

Warning: Boy this is on crack, and if you're not familiar with Due South, I can't help you, and if you are, don't hurt me.
Notes:
Petra took arms against a sea of commas.  If you are all very good, I will tell you the story of the young boy Batman discovered licking the Batmobile's mudflap in Crime Alley

Happily, I have a tag for this.

So, LC showed me this, which I enjoyed mightily, and then enjoyed even MORE when I realized, (very, very belatedly) it was a Star Trek filk.

[info]lcsbanana: jack harkness/james t kirk: YES? YES? I THINK SO
Betty: a;sldjflksjdaf;lkj!!!!

"Come now, Mr. Scott, surely it's our... duty, as Federation officers to render aid to a law abiding citizen, stranded between planets."

"Oh, aye," muttered Mr. Scott in what he might plausibly have believed to be an undertone. "If he were law abiding, which I see no sign of."

Kirk elected not to hear the mildly insubordinate comment. "Can I offer you the comforts of a guest room, Mr. Harkness? How long have you been waiting in that rescue pod?"

"You have no idea," said Harkness, and smiled like a Klingon in a fist-fight.

-- and then it devolved into a brief disagreement over whether Jack/Uhura or Jack/Sulu was hotter before we realized we were talking about Jack and there was no need to choose.

Update on state of the Betty

I've been absent recently, but have finally met my SeSa obligations, and the spammination may recommence!

In case you were worried that I might be leaving DCU, I think the beautiful work of art under the cut will disabuse you of this notion.

This can be blamed on Petra and Glossing. And I plan to! 500x705 img )

Anticipatory New Year's resolution: stop using phrase "character rape." Yes, it adequately conveys the way I feel about what's been done to certain characters, but when other people do it in cases I can't agree with, it feels like an accusation which leaves me feeling unpleasant in the tummy region. Therefore, on the DUOAYWHTDUY principle, I will attempt to use more neutral language. It's become habit, so feel free to call me on it if you catch me doing it.
