So, I got an interview with devildoll up over at girl-wonder over her memorable experience being dog-piled by the internet. It's the first time I've done something like this, and I'm quite pleased with the result. devildoll is articulate, and a dream to interview; I ended up having to cut quite a bit to get it down to length and you have no idea what agony it was choosing which bits had to go.

I was interviewed for the girl-wonder.org podcast at Four Color Heroines this month, in which I talked so much they were forced to split it into two episodes!  (Not actually.)  This half is creator interviews, including yet another instance of Adam Hughes ill-advisedly letting someone record him talking.  I'm the one with the Canadian accent.

As we are posting girl-wonder auction items for preview, I can bring to your attention this art by Renato Guedes.  Even if you don't have the $70 to bid on it, take a look at it.  Remember how Supergirl looked like a vaguely insectoid rendition of a Bratz doll for a while?  Here's a girl you'd want to have pulling you out of a burning building.  It makes me want to read the book.  I just look at it and *siiiiiiiigh* with happiness.

For all of you who registered for a membership on the girl-wonder forum and then went, "now what?" and never used it, allow me to direct you to this Greg Land caption contest. Here is my confession: I just wrote my very first letter for Project Girl-Wonder. But Betty! you will say, Haven't you been bugging us for ages to write our own letters? Aren't you a gigantic hypocrite?

Yes, and Yes. I meant to write my letter! I truly did! I got out stationary, and a pen, and even wrote down the header, but then... things happened, and shucks, people, I am a lousy paper correspondent. There are too many steps between sitting down with a pen and someone receiving my letter: there's stamps to find, and envelopes, and actually going down to the post office...

But then I read the letter DC is apparently sending out in response to g-w letters:

"At this point in time, there are no plans for a memorial for Stephanie in the batcave. Thank you again for your interest and we wish you well in the future."

Hunh. That's pretty goddamned condescending sounding. Sounds like, "Yes, annoying fangirls, we have received your mail, please stop sending us your stupid annoying letters."

Oh DC. You haven't begun to see stupid and annoying. I'm just beginning to be stupid and annoying.

Number 10 search phrase leading to Girl-Wonder: "Sapphic Paradise"

One of the interesting things produced by the Girl-Wonder.org forums is some artwork produced by people trying to illustrate the exactly how and why female comic characters are illustrated differently than the male. We're not just talking about the costumes, although it's a good start. We're talking about the poses, the blocking, the anatomy, the whole shebang.

So, I want to offer to host artwork people make where a male is put into a female pose, and I'm looking for female references. You know, the one you look and go, "bzuh?" The one that never would have got drawn if it were male. (ETA: for genderswapping purposes, so bad boobs will only work up to a point) My old favourite of this is this picture of Jade discussing her sexual abuse. But I know there's worse out there. Do people have any off the top of their heads?

Edit: Perusal of s_d's "boobs don't work that way" tag gives me this, this and this and oh dear god, this, if someone replicated this with a man I think the chiropractor-tasticness of it would be inescapable, oh god how could I have forgotten this, this entire post...

I presume most people reading my lj are familiar with Project Girl Wonder. We've hit the next phase in our letter writing campaign.

Now, this is a fairly large thing I'm asking of you: you have to get a postcard or stationary, write a letter, take a picture or scan it, remove identifying information, email it to Mary, and then put the letter in the post, and then I will write you a story, in any fandom I can. This is probably more than fic from me is really worth to you, which is my intent. I don't want you to do this for the fic, but if you've been meaning to write the letter and just needing a little nudge, hopefully this will provide it.
