The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.
They probably meant SCOTUS, but too bad, they didn't say!
Re: Same-Sex Marriage doesn't look like a Supreme Court case because it's not v. anything, but that's because it's a reference question, (you can do that in Canada) which is when the government asks the SC, "Um, can we/they do that?" In this case, the answer was "yes," and 'that' was "Legislate to change the definition of marriage.' The government, (Conservative) was kind of hoping that the answer was no, but given their yes, they were forced to (or, at least, bowed to the inevitable) amend the definition of marriage in the Civil Marriage Act, legalizing equal marriage in Canada.
The court's decision is good reading, if you are a total dork, as I am.
My favourite SCOTUS decision, btw, is Brown v. Board of Education, but someone else will have to that.

The Supreme Court Case meme
GUYS! OTHER PEOPLE ALSO! MEME!
Via What happens to Young Peter Pevensie when he falls through the portal into another world-- a world where animals talk, and the woods and seas are alive with fairy creatures? First, they make him their king, but Peter is strangely unfulfilled. And what strange feelings are stirring in him toward the strapping half-horse who is his body-guard? Will love overcome? I think you should have to link to whatever it is, too, so that people can go WUT. (no actual horses were strapped in the filming of this motion-picture.) Tagged by Mag
RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names MEMAGE
Hey, kids, want to play the game where you ask me to describe a canon I've never watched and I describe it based on my impression of it from the internet? |
